History and Vision

Our important ministry began in 1981 with the purchase of old farmland in Woodstock, GA.

In 1970, a Home Bible Study began in the home of Paul and Louise Storey in East Marietta.  The group meet weekly until 1982.

In the early seventies, the Lord gave Paul a vision of land with a large meeting house and homes.  In 1981, the Lord said, "This is the time, look for land."  As they were looking for land, they came across some farmland where the owner said, "The Lord told me to set aside this land for God's people."  In April of the same year, "The Land" was purchased and "Christian Outreach Ministries" was begun to operate The Land.  That same year, the "Big House" was built.  The first meeting at the Big House was held on Thanksgiving Day, 1981.  In the following years, several homes were built and were occupied by by the people who attended the Home Bible Study that still continued to meet.

The growth and development at The Land was at the leading of the Holy Spirit.  No one owns anything at The Land.  It all belongs to the Lord.

The Land provides space for rest, refuge, refreshment, and restoration.  We have hosted hundreds of groups and many Christian events over the past 40+ years.

We will remain affordable to those who need to be restored and equipped through the generous partnership with the Body of Christ.

Our Community

With Christ as our head, we operate as stewards of The Land by implementing best practices of ministry and non-profit operation.  We seek to be good stewards of The Land in a spirit of love, humility, and unity.  We are followers of Christ; Custodians of The Land.

Our purpose is to assist The Church of Jesus Christ in Her work, service and reign as a family of God on earth. It is our desire to bear witness to Jesus as Lord and Christ in the world and to implement in every way possible the answer to Jesus' prayer that we will be one in Him.

The Storeys

The founders of The Land, Paul & Mary Louise Storey, married in 1950 had have had an enduring journey of serving the Lord together.  For the first thirty of the years of their marriage, they raised their family and served the church.

After a successful career at Lockheed Martin, they ventured out in their late fifties to be self-supported missionaries.  After helping plant churches in Honduras and the Ukraine, they opened up The Land to serve "the least of these" in the body of Christ by providing clean, safe environments for God's people to gather for times of teaching, ministry, worship, and celebration.

The Storeys regularly testify that "the Lord built this place."
